Its been busy recently, My Pathfinders film has been shown 12 times on Sky News and the HD version is now due out in March, being re-named apparently and also Ross Kemp is worried it will steal his thunder! Also I filmed some of the frontline stuff on Doctors and Nurses in Afghanistan with Pathfinders and 2 Para, currently out every Tuesday at 8pm. I am now on another project about Navy Chaplains so of back to Afghanistan at the end of the month.

Pathfinders

I've just got back from stints in Baghdad for Dispatches C4 with Peter Oborne, and Zimbabwe for Sky. Hopefully a bit of down time now.
My Pathfinders film goes out on Xmas eve at 2100 on Sky news and then the HD version in Feb on Sky 1, so watch it! I'm really chuffed with it, just wish I had more than an hour!
I will try and get some video uploaded after xmas.

Afghanistan

I've been in Afghanistan for 6 weeks doing an ITV series on medics at war, but mainly with Pathfinders Platoon and doing the Sky News Afghan week.I was with Stuart Ramsay and we had a great time with the the Pathfinders, who were excellent and we had a fair bit of fighting. I'll upload the packages for anyone to view. This will make the final special programme a belter!
Anyway a bit of family time and fixing all my trashed gear in preparation to switching to the new Sony EX-3.
Also another good friend,Sean Langan, was released last week after having been held by the Taliban for 3 months!
I hope he has a good rest and some family time.

It's been a busy few months, filming a Dispatches in Somalia with Aiden Hartley which goes out on Channel 4 on May 19th.Check the programme out on YouTube, "Thev Warlords Next Door". I've been off to Africa lurking around Zim/Zam!
Finally one of my best friends,Richard Butler, was released from captivity in Basra and is now home plotting the next escapade.
I'm off to Afghanistan again until July doing a series for ITV on the medics and then carrying on with my Pathfinders Platoon project.

Hostage

On a sadder note its been nearly six weeks since one of my best friends was taken hostage in Basra. He is working for CBS and although a lot of work is being done behind the scenes, I hope he is released soon.

For a change I have been filming in the UK with the Pathfinders Platoon of 16 Airborne Bde. They are an exceptional bunch of guys and it's reminded me of when I was in Patrols Platoon in 1 Para in the early '80's, nothing changes much and it's still a great laugh although the guys are much better nowadays with loads more experience than in my day. As well as filming with them I'm also doing a series for ITV about the Medics in Afghanistan during these next few months, so I'll be back in the UK about July!
I have also been playing around with some new gear, like a POV 1, bullet camera which has been great,although it chews batteries! Also been using a lot of Kriega bags etc and they are ace. As for military gear, I've got gear from Serbia, which is the best,lightest armour and helmets I've seen. They are at www.armyequipment.com .
I think I should do a kit update as I have tried just about everything in the worst conditions, and still use www.militarymorons.com as a guide on military stuff..which seems to work better than the over-priced tat sold as pro-camera gear.

I've been on the road, Uganda before Xmas and just come back from Mogadishu in Somalia doing a Dispatches for Channel 4 with Aiden Hartley. That should be a good programme when it comes out.
I'm back in the UK now sorting out gear and starting a year long series on the Pathfinders Platoon of 16 Para Brigade, deploying with them to Afghanistan etc.
A few other interesting projects are on the horizon, but will reveal them as time goes on!

I'm finishing up out here in Africa, back to the UK for a few days then off to Afghanistan to embed with the Americans for Sky News. A load of interesting projects are on the horizon so juggling them all and seeing my family are going to be trying.I found this article in the Producer magazine, which I had forgotten about doing on the "Long Way Down". Thats on air now and I still haven't seen any of it....

I'm back from the "Long Way Down" and been recovering from a strange event!! My wife has had a baby boy, Thomas Edward Foster, so am enjoying that for a change.
I'm possibly off to Burma, then Iraq again and who knows what, but I'll try and update more regularly and upload some film.

I have been back and forward to Iraq and Afghanistan and am now on "The Long Way Down' with Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman, going from John O'Groats to Cape Town we hope and arriving in August some time...
I am using Canon XL-H1's which are great at the moment and lenses superb.

Back in Iraq

I'm back in Iraq, working for Sky News with Stuart Ramsay doing embeds with the US Marines in the Falluja /Ramadi area of Anbar province. These packages should be on air between the 12-18 March. Its then off back to Afghanistan and then start on "The Long Way Down" with Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman which will take us from John O'Groats to Cape Town, so a busy year ahead.
I will up load some more movies when I get a chance, like 'The Generals War" ,with the Director Olly Lambert and Hugh Hughes which I did for October Films/BBC 2 and went out a week ago to good reviews.

This is an attempt to try and keep my website up to date,and I'm new to this lark so bear with me....
So far this year after a long stint in Afghanistan doing a film for BBC 2 about NATO , which should be on air around the 1st of March .I've been back to Beirut to do a follow up on the war last year with Tim Marshall at SKY NEWS. We were then nominated for our coverage of the war, I did all the stuff in Tyre and the south, at the Broadcast awards.Now I'm running around preparing for the 'The Long Way Down" with Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman and then off back to Iraq for Sky again in March to do some unusual embeds etc.
